“设计”是用创造性解决问题的手段。而这个创造性的过程,如果没有特别要求的附加条件,它所呈现的结果理应是便宜低成本的。而这与设计品质低下,设计精度拙劣是完全两码事,它应该首先是个“好”设计,并且还是个“便宜的”设计。

如何能在造价相对便宜的基础上又是一个好设计,这是我考虑最多的部分,很多时候它们是相互矛盾并互相制约着。当我刚刚从事设计师这个角色的时候,也就是很多年前,认为这是一对几乎不可以调和的矛盾,通常只能取得其一。但是,渐渐地好像找到了一点方法,在自问了无数次“为什么这样”之后,我决定抛下对某些惯用材料得依赖,抛下之前认知的存在形式。把更多的重心转向如何创造设计中得那股“气”,这个中国人略懂,外国人完全不懂得词儿。给了我们很多词儿以外的内容,它不再拘泥于某些细节,也不在依赖于某些形式,而是以一种整体的,缓缓的,多变的,并且有力量的方式让我们感受着,存在着。

这个“便宜并优质”的设计理论,看上去是当下很多设计师在追求的,不管你是哪个国家的设计师,但当中各有乾坤。这与一个国家的美学传承,设计师的学习经历,成长环境,个人性格有着很多关系。

举个例子,在做一个新设计之前,我会做几件事。首先,清空自己,用一段时间去忘记过去的招儿,重新建立,重新创造。其次去想象一种存在方式,并把自己放在其中,就像一平米见方的土地上铺着一层薄薄的沙子,我会把这些沙子聚成一堆,更多的地方留下呼吸,像儿时画画一样。最后做的就是如何“瘦身以达到健康”,这与平时做的若干试验密不可分。有了试验,也有了更多可能,特别是那些更加便宜的可能。

好的设计,是可以为建造方省钱的。这是种方法,也是种态度。

About “Cheap Design”

Design is the method of solving problem with creative.The creative process presents the results should be cheaper and low cost if there is not specifically additional conditions.That’s entirely different things with low quality and poor accuracy of design.First it should be a good design and also a cheap design.

How to make a good design based on a relatively inexpensive cost which I considered the most,they are always mutually contradictory and restrict each other.When I went to in for the role of the designer which was many years ago,I considered them an irreconcilable pair of contradiction, and usually we could only achieved one goal. Gradually, however, I seemed to find out some method. After asking myself countless times "Why is it so”, I decided to stop relying on certain common materials and abandon existing recognition, but shift to how to create the “air” of design about which Chinese people have a little knowledge but foreigners have none. This kind of design gives us a lot of content other than the word. It no longer rigidly adheres to some details and relies on some forms, but is sensed by us in a holistic, slowly, and fickle way.

The "cheap and high-quality” design theory appears to be what a great many designers are pursuing. Wherever they are from, they have their respective snacks and achievements which have bearings on a country's heritage of aesthetics, the learning experience, growing environment, and personal character of designers.

For example, I would do a few things before I make a new design. First, empty myself and forget the past skills and techniques in order to re-establish and re-create. Second, imagine a way of being and put myself in it. It’s just as that a square meter of land was covered with a thin layer of sand and I, like doing childhood painting, would put the sand together into a pile and leave more to breathe in. At last, what I need to do is to "downsizing to achieve health", which is inseparable from do a number of tests. With the tests, there can be more possibility, especially those that may be cheaper.

Good design can save money for the construction side. It is a way as well as an attitude.
